Annual used book sale
Information about the library's fund-raising book sale.
Throughout the year the administration of the Herr Memorial Library requests donations of unwanted good-condition hardcover and paperback books, computer software, records, videocassette tapes, audiocassette tapes, compact discs, and digital video discs (DVDs) for use in expanding the library’s materials collection, in replacing worn books, and in raising funds through an annual book sale.
The library cannot accept condensed books, magazines, damaged books, or textbooks that are more than five years old.
After materials are donated to the library, staff members sort through them to look for new titles to add to the collection and to look for newer copies of materials that can be used to replace damaged or lost items.
Once these items have been removed, the remaining donated materials are stored until the next book sale, which coincides with Mifflinburg's "Market Street Sale Days" in mid-May. (For more information about Mifflinburg community events, visit the Mifflinburg Heritage and Revitalization Association's Web site at http://www.mifflinburgpa.com/)
To donate a large number of items for the book sale, please contact the Library Director at (570) 966-0831 or herr@herrlibrary.org.
