Mifflinburg library invites children to ‘Catch the Reading Bug’

     The Herr Memorial Library in Mifflinburg invites children to “Catch the Reading Bug” by participating in the library’s free 2008 Summer Reading Program. 

     Registration for the Summer Reading Program begins when the library opens at 11 a.m. on Mon., June 2.  

     Children’s program participants will receive their “Ants on a Log” reading record to help them track their reading progress when they sign up, as well as instructions for the “Create a Bug” contest.  Throughout the summer, prizes will be given out for completion of different numbers of reading records.

     Herr Memorial Library also offers special programs for readers ages 8 to 12 and also for teen readers.

     

     Story Times will start July 9 and 10, and be held on Wednesdays for toddlers 19 mo. to 3 years; on Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. for infants; and on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10:10 a.m. for preschool ages 3 to 5.  The Story Times will continue through Wed., Aug. 13 and Thurs., Aug. 14.

     On Saturday, July 19, the library will host a “Vaccination Vacation” event from 10 a.m. to noon on the library’s back porch and lawn at the corner of Fifth and Market streets. A low-cost rabies clinic for cats and dogs administered by Dr. Danielle L. Ward, a Mifflinburg veterinarian, and her staff, will be featured.
