Herr Library to offer knitting program
press release
The Herr Memorial Library in Mifflinburg will host a free adult knitting program beginning Tues., Feb. 19. Mrs. Ada Sampsell will lead the 5-week program, which will consist of 90-minute classes each Tuesday morning at the library through March 18.
Anyone who is interested in knitting is welcome to participate, from beginners to those who have experience. Mrs. Sampsell will teach basic knitting skills, and participants are invited to create a variety of knitted items that will be donated to area charities.
Members of the group may make baby blankets and caps for the "Empty Arms" support group at Evangelical Hospital, helmet liners, stump socks, and lap robes to support troops through "Operation Homefront," and mats for shelter animals.
Participants are asked to supply their own needles and yarn. Patterns, coffee, and tea will be provided. Register either at the library, located at the corner of Fifth and Market streets, or call 966-0831.
