Herr Library promotes cards for kindergarteners
press release
September is a time when the Herr Memorial Library would like to remind all parents -- and especially parents of kindergarteners -- that a library card can be the most important school supply.
To promote the benefits of owning a library card, all kindergarten-aged children whose parents complete a simple library card application from the Mifflinburg library between Tues., Sept. 2 and Wed., Oct. 15, will receive a gift and will be entered in a prize drawing.
A library card is a valuable tool for school, as it opens up a world of opportunity in the form of free reliable resources. It also can be a self-esteem booster for a child who is just beginning to navigate the school system.
The library offers something for every member of the family, from books on shelves, books on tape and CD, videos, DVDs, the Internet and special programs.
To receive a Union County Library System card, which is free to residents of Union County and may be used at any of the three libraries in the Union County Library System, visit the Herr Memorial Library at 500 Market Street in Mifflinburg. Some form of identification that includes a current address is required. A valid driver’s license is preferred.
For more information, call the library at 966-0831.
