On Saturday March 1st, the Herr Memorial Library hosted a Dr. Seuss Birthday Party where Children’s Program Coordinator, Lorie Hernesh, announced The Dr. Seuss Scavenger Hunt Reading Challenge for the month of March. The challenge was designed to encourage, motivate and inspire children and adults of all ages to love books, to celebrate the joy of reading together and to challenge readers to step out of their comfort zones. Some Seuss-Spirational reading suggestions taken directly from Dr. Seuss’s book subjects and titles were provided.
Children participating in the reading challenge had to read, or be read to by a caregiver, at least ten books and adults must have read a minimum of five. Herr Memorial Library had a total of 53 entry forms with over 500 books checked-out for this challenge.
The winner for the adult category is Jackie Baker and the five child winners include Jonathan Rohland (age 3), Olivia Snyder (age 2), Gailyn Baker (age 10), Amelia Fullam (age 2) and Emma Bailey (age 4). Thank you to all of those that participated in the contest and congratulations to our winners!
