There are many Union County residents who have the same name or similar names, and by asking to scan your card library staff members are making sure that your account remains secure.

To access your account you must first receive a “Patron or Alternate ID Number” and PIN, or personal identification number, from your home library. PINs may be changed after the account has been activated.

Materials can be renewed online unless one or more of the following conditions exist:

  • The card has expired or been blocked
  • The material’s renewal limit has been reached
  • The material is overdue
  • The library user has any unpaid fines
  • The material is on hold

Although residents may use any library they choose, Herr Memorial Library primarily serves residents of the Borough of Mifflinburg, the West End Library primarily serves residents of Hartley Township and the Borough of Hartleton, and The Public Library for Union County serves the remainder of county residents and is the system headquarters. Tracy Carey, director of The Public Library for Union County, is the system administrator.

  • Herr Memorial Library, founded in 1944, is an independent member of the federated Union County Library System. The library’s 28,000-item materials collection includes books, books on tape and CD, movies on DVD, and an extensive genealogy and Pennsylvania history collection. Creative and educational programs for children, teens and adults are offered regularly for residents of the Borough of Mifflinburg and surrounding communities.

    • The library is located at 500 Market Street, and parking is available along Fifth and Market streets, with handicap access available from the alley between Market and Chestnut streets.

     

    • Quilters and needleworkers are invited to participate in the library’s annual Silent Auction fundraising event that features quilts and stitched items.
